Manchester United are in a stand-off with Brentford over the valuation of Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
Much to the frustration of fans, Manchester United have been in talks with Bryan Mbeumo for over a month. With exactly one month to go until the start of the Premier League season, negotiations are still ongoing.
Mbeumo wants to join United – that much has been clear all summer. But Ineos have failed to reach an agreement over a fee with Brentford.
There have been two Mbeumo bids rejected so far, with Ineos willing to pay up to £62.5m for his signature. However, Brentford have changed their Mbeumo fee after seeing the activity in the transfer market this summer.
The Guardian report that Brentford now want £70m for Bryan Mbeumo, which has caused the deal to stall.

Ineos faced identical Bryan Mbeumo situation last summer
This is not Ineos’ first transfer window in charge of United, and the club’s transfer team found themselves in a similar situation last summer.
United spent £250m on five major signings last summer, but once again some of the transfer business was left very late.
Manuel Ugarte signed on deadline day for a £51m fee, with the Uruguayan midfielder completing a switch from Paris Saint-Germain.
However, as reported by Manchester Evening News, United’s move for Ugarte stalled in August which led to links to alternative midfielders.
Ultimately, United were in a stalemate with PSG for weeks before eventually getting a deal over the line.
Does that suggest Mbeumo will eventually sign for United? Potentially. But fans won’t want to wait until the end of August again.
Ineos learn from mistake with third Bryan Mbuemo bid
United have too often made big signings late in the summer window, giving the player no time to settle into the club before being thrown into action.
Ruben Amorim wanted business done early this summer, and Ineos are trying to learn from their mistakes last summer.
Instead of waiting and trying to call Brentford’s bluff, United have submitted a third Mbeumo bid to try and force their hand.

The third bid is reportedly worth a guaranteed £65m plus £5m in add-ons, reaching the £70m total that Brentford have asked for.
Amorim wants Mbeumo signed for the pre-season tour, and it seems Ineos are pushing to make that happen.
