Manchester United will require a third bid if they plan to make Bryan Mbeumo the second major signing of the summer window.

After the opening bid was rejected, Ineos resumed talks with Brentford and Manchester United submit a second bid for Bryan Mbeumo worth £62.5 million.

Broken down, the deal was worth a guaranteed £55 million with an additional £7.5 million in add-ons.

While the second offer was also rejected, the Mbeumo deal is still at an advanced stage and the 25-year-old has made it clear to Brentford that he has only ever wanted to join United.

The value of United’s second bid came from Brentford valuing Mbeumo the same as Matheus Cunha, who joined the Red Devils for £62.5 million on the first day of the window.

Brentford make U-turn on Bryan Mbeumo valuation

When the second bid was submitted, United were so confident they had met Brentford’s valuation that reports suggested Mbeumo had booked a medical next week.

However, it seems Brentford have now changed their valuation of Bryan Mbeumo after the second bid arrived.

According to the Daily Mail, Brentford now value Mbeumo higher than Cunha based on a theory backed up by statistical data.

With £62.5m paid to Wolves from Cunha, it suggests that Ineos will have to improve their offer and make a third bid to Brentford.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has already revealed that United are plotting an ‘improved’ Mbeumo offer after the second bid was rejected. A deal in July is likely.

When Bryan Mbeumo could make his Man United debut

Despite the rejected second bid, there is still an overwhelming feeling that Mbeumo will eventually put pen to paper to sign as a United player.

With the PSR financial period changing to 2025/26 on July 1, there is a good chance that United will hold off and register the deal next month.

United’s pre-season training begins on July 7, meaning Mbeumo should join straight up with the squad at a revamped Carrington next month.

The first pre-season friendly takes place in Sweden against Leeds United on July 19, before the squad travels out to the United States to participate in the Premier League Summer Series.

Provided the deal and medical are done in time, Mbeumo could make his debut for United against fierce rivals Leeds.
