Manchester United submit third bid to sign Bryan Mbeumo, awaiting Brentford response

Manchester United have been chasing Bryan Mbeumo for more than six weeks.

After swooping early to sign Matheus Cunha this summer, Manchester United identified Bryan Mbeumo as the next top target.

The Cameroon international had a brilliant campaign with Brentford, scoring 20 goals and was due for a big money transfer this summer, with Newcastle and Spurs also keen.

However, Mbeumo chose United in June, which saw the Red Devils submit two bids for the 26-year-old to no avail.

Despite slow progress, Mbeumo to United always appeared to be on the cards, with the pre-season tour seen as a target.

Now, a third offer has been made.

Manchester United have finally submitted third offer to Brentford

It has been a long and frustrating saga, with United in talks for six weeks with Brentford, but finally the third offer has been made by Ineos and it is a good one.

According to the very reliable David Ornstein, United have now improved the bid for Mbeumo from the previous £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons.

United’s third bid is valued at £65m fixed and then £5m in add-ons, taking the total package to the magical £70m target that the Bees have had all summer.

Despite reaching the valuation, United are now awaiting Brentford’s response to the offer, but are surely confident that this is a bid which can get the job done.

Manchester United now face race against time to get Bryan Mbeumo on US tour

With the bid being a higher fixed fee than Cunha cost United, and also reaching the £70m mark in total, it can be assumed that this will see the deal cross the finish line.

This bid has come as Newcastle began to look at signing Mbeumo’s teammate Yoane Wissa, which would have complicated United’s hopes of a deal.

United have taken their time getting this done, but all of this will be forgotten if Mbeumo is on the plane to America next week, but there is a race to make this happen.

If United agree the move completely today, it will leave four days to sort out all the paperwork, arrange the medical and get him to Manchester airport to be part of the tour squad.

United’s long drawn out negotiations proved to be fruitless, with the club paying exactly what Brentford wanted all along, which hopefully shows the club in future negotiations to move faster in the market.
