Manchester United moved quickly this week to bring in an exciting French defender, centre-back Leny Yoro.
Leny Yoro’s arrival came just days after a promising young French defender sealed his exit away from Manchester United.
Willy Kambwala quit Manchester United to sign with La Liga side Villarreal, ending his brief career at Old Trafford.
Kambwala made his debut for Manchester United in December and went on to make 10 appearances, before his decision to leave the club.

Willy Kambwala happy with Villarreal choice
The writing was on the wall for Willy Kambwala when Manchester United decided to re-sign Jonny Evans on a one year deal.
Kambwala was well down the pecking order, and faced being utilised as a back-up, possibly fifth or sixth choice.
The move to Villarreal gives him a greater chance of first team football, while Manchester United have a buy back clause.
Kambwala has now been presented as a Villarreal player and he is happy with his choice to sign with the Spanish club.
Speaking at a press conference reported via AS, Kambwala said: “I am looking forward to starting a new adventure at an incredible club like Villarreal. I am proud and excited to play here, in this stadium and with the fans. I hope we have a good time together.
“The most important thing in football is to win and have a good mentality. I promise the fans that I will give my all in training and in matches. I want to win and excite the fans. I am ready to fight for this club and represent the fans every week.”
Kambwala will have to earn his spot
While Willy Kambwala stands a better chance of first team football at Villarreal than Manchester United, he hinted he may not be first choice right away.
Alluding to conversations with his manager, he explained he has been told to be patient.
He said: “I spoke a lot with him before coming. We talked about the position he wants me to play and the type of player he likes. Marcelino told me that I have to be patient and that he will be there to help me.”
Kambwala also described himself as a player, adding: “I am a defender who can play in any position in defence. I am aggressive. I like to defend and fight, but I also know how to play with the ball.
“I am a complete defender who can do a lot with the ball, but also defend. I am not afraid to take risks with the ball at my feet.”
Manchester United fans saw positive signs from Kambwala during his debut season, and there was hope that he could be a big player for the future.
However, there were only going to be limited chances for him if everybody stayed fit, and an untimely injury may have cost him his Old Trafford chance.
Kambwala was in line to start the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, and play a key role in the final weeks of the season, until he succumbed to an injury of his own.
Prior to the 2023/24 season, Kambwala was in the background, after an injury-hit start to his career since his 2020 move from Sochaux.
Ineos have done well to get a decent fee for Kambwala in that context, with minimal first team games under his belt.
It might end up looking cheap in the long run, but the buy back clause means United can’t really lose out if he does develop into a top-tier talent.
