‘I will never’… Ruben Amorim sets record straight amid reports of Man United player complaints

There have been question marks over Ruben Amorim’s devotion to his style of play at Manchester United.

To put it simply, Ruben Amorim believes in his ideas. Regardless of losses or poor results, the Manchester United head coach will stick to his philosophy.

Amorim has stubbornly kept to his 3-4-2-1 formation despite an underwhelming start as United boss. Amorim implemented a “spectacular” style of play at Sporting Lisbon, where he won two league titles. He has no intention to steer away from that anytime soon.

One of the biggest criticisms of Erik ten Hag’s United side was that they lacked an identity. Amorim has given United one, but now there are concerns over if it is the right one.

The Portuguese coach is under no illusion that it will take time. Amorim has repeatedly called for patience but he knows better than anyone that football is a results-based business.

Ruben Amorim will not bend to Man United player demands

An alarming report last week claimed United players are concerned by Amorim’s tactics and have discussed among themselves whether change is needed.

Ten Hag suffered the same fate when players began to criticise his tactics and training methods. Unlike the Dutchman, Amorim plans to stick to his ways.

Via Sky Sports, Amorim was asked if he’d change his formation or system if asked by a player. His response was emphatic.

“No, because it’s a hard situation. I will never change because a player is saying that,” Amorim said.

“I will change everything if I feel I am closer to winning games doing that. And to win games everyone has to believe.

“When I feel that they don’t believe or that the club doesn’t believe or that we are stuck. I will be the first one to say that it has to be a different person.

“Until then, I’m going to do my thing. This system can adapt to anything, and that is my goal.”

Ruben Amorim must stamp out Man United player power

Player power has doomed multiple United managers in recent years.

This current squad has been accused of throwing managers under the bus, and Amorim cannot risk following a similar path.

Already, Amorim has made some bold decisions as United boss, including the decision to drop Marcus Rashford and allow him to leave on loan to Aston Villa.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe backed Amorim’s Rashford decision and it is very important moving forward that the hierarchy continues to support Amorim despite his poor start.

Amorim’s honesty and transparency has been appreciated by United fans, and there has been too many occaions where the players are backed over the manager.

Any players who are complaining about Amorim’s style of play should be shown the exit.
