Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has a Manchester United player who has “loads of quality” and could have a “new lease of life” under his tutelage at Old Trafford.
That is according to Michael Owen and Aaron Ramsey, who believe that one Manchester United star could fit into Ruben Amorim’s style of play.
Amorim was announced as the new United manager and the 39-year-old Portuguese head coach will replace Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout.
The Sporting CP boss inked a deal until June 2027 with the Premier League club after United triggered Amorim’s £9.25m release clause in his contract.
Amorim will officially take charge of United on 11th November, with club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy currently interim manager at the Red Devils.
Ruud van Nistelrooy returned to Old Trafford in the summer as assistant manager to Erik ten Hag, who was sacked by the Red Devils last week.

Owen on Man Utd star under Amorim
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim managerial spell at Old Trafford will end on Sunday after Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Leicester City.
Ruben Amorim’s first match in charge of United will be after the November international break, with the Red Devils facing Ipswich Town later this month.
The incoming United manager is widely tipped to replicate his Sporting CP style at Old Trafford, with Amorim likely to use a 3-4-3 or a 3-4-2-1 formation.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Michael Owen shared his predicted line-up that Amorim will use at United and Marcus Rashford will make the cut under him.
Owen believes Rasmus Hojlund will lead the frontline under Amorim, with Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes deployed on either side of the United striker.
“It’s important to mention that these two players play almost inside in a lot of his formations,” he said, as per the Metro.
“They are not necessarily wide players so they come in and play more like number 10s and that plays into Bruno’s favour.
“With those players coming inside, you could ask, can Rashford play inside? I think he can. I think he’s got decent vision.
“He’s not going to play otherwise unless he ends up playing him up front instead of Hojlund. I think Rashford will start but it will be in that more inside position.”
Ramsey wants Amorim to use Rashford at Man Utd
Aaron Ramsey felt the same way as Owen about Marcus Rashford, who struggled to consistently deliver for United in the 2023-24 Premier League campaign.
Rashford was in the form of his life in Erik ten Hag’s debut season at United, with the Red Devils star scoring 30 times in 56 appearances across all competitions.
However, the 27-year-old United forward’s form fell off a cliff last season and Rashford only managed to score eight times in 43 matches for the club.
Ramsey believes that Rashford could be “suited in the little pockets and holes” under Amorim’s system and he raved about the England star’s ability.
“Rashford has loads of quality,” he said.
“Hopefully, he gets a new lease of life under the new manager and he can reach the levels he has in the past and be a bit more consistency.
“He’s an unbelievable player on his day. In this system, I feel he can be suited in the little pockets and holes.”
