Departures this summer are just as important for Manchester United as arrivals and now one player looks close to an exit.
For Donny van de Beek, the move to Old Trafford will be among his biggest regrets as it couldn’t have possibly gone worse.
Arriving for £35m in 2020, the Dutchman ended up making just 62 appearances for the Red Devils, totalling just 2,157 minutes of action.
This means United paid roughly £16,226 per minute for Van de Beek, along with his £90,000-a-week wage which makes this one of the worst transfers United ever completed.
But after four disappointing years for all involved, finally, it looks as though Van de Beek will get his permanent exit. Here are all the details.

Details behind Donny van de Beek’s Manchester United exit
Saturday saw reports begin heating up around the potential exit of Van de Beek from Old Trafford this summer. This comes as Girona have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Van de Beek permanently this summer.
Fabrizio Romano broke the news, taking to X and explaining that the agreement between the clubs is based heavily on add-ons.
Romano continued that the deal could reach as high as £4.2m this season based on appearances but possibly higher depending on achievements.
The permanent deal is agreed upon but will be subject to personal terms which will be discussed next week.
Romano then added a second tweet, writing that United have included a big sell-on clause in the deal. While the small initial fee, which could rise to the aforementioned £4.2m quite easily could also rise further to between £8.4m and £12.7m in total.
A report from De Telegraaf in Holland also added that Van de Beek will sign a four-year deal with Girona to play in the Champions League next season.

Van de Beek looks set to be the first example of a sale overseen by Ineos and already it’s far better than the appalling selling we’ve seen under the previous regime.
To squeeze a fee potentially as high as £12.7m out of the sale of a player who hasn’t played at a strong level in four years, and has struggled in every loan he’s been sent on, would be a masterstroke.
Previously we saw United sell Fred for just £12.9m when he at the time of sale is double or triple the player.
Dan Ashworth has only been in the job a week and already he’s managed to shift out a player who had to go, and a player at that who United have been unable to get rid of in previous windows.
Very impressive start, but now it’s time to bring some players in.
