How Man Utd prevented any further team leaks after ‘baseless accusations’ against two of Ruben Amorim’s players

Manchester United were left ‘frustrated’ by how two of Ruben Amorim’s first-team players were singled out in ‘baseless’ accusations that they leaked the team news, according to reports.

Ruben Amorim was left with a major headache towards the end of 2024 after Manchester United’s team selection was leaked ahead of a key match.

The Red Devils were in action against Manchester City last month and the team news made the rounds on social media ahead of United’s 2-1 win at the Etihad.

Amorim had made the big call to drop both Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from the matchday squad for the Manchester derby.

United mounted a late comeback against their crosstown rivals and snatched all three important Premier League points in December 2024.

Speaking after the match, Amorim broke his silence over the team leak and the United manager claimed it was “impossible to fix nowadays.”

“I know that story,” he said.

“I don’t know, I think it’s impossible to fix nowadays because you have a lot of people in the club, the players talk with agents.

“I don’t know, you can talk with friends, so it’s hard to know. It’s not a good thing but let’s move on and go to the next one and see if they find the next starting XI.”

Two Man Utd players singled out

Manchester United have been able to avoid any further team leaks in the aftermath of the Manchester City match.

However, The Daily Mail reports that the Premier League club were not happy with how Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo ‘were somehow to blame’ for the leaks.

The newspaper added that United were ‘frustrated’ at the ‘baseless accusations’ made against the two aforementioned players.

According to The Daily Mail, the Red Devils had to ‘persuade’ Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo ‘from coming out to defend themselves’ ahead of the City match.

Man Utd’s team leak problem fixed for now

The Daily Mail claims that social media accounts that were ‘routinely leaking team news this season’ have now fallen silent in the aftermath of the Manchester derby.

It is believed that the ‘backlash from other fans’ might have been one of the key reasons that has led to certain accounts going silent on any further team teams.

The Mail added that United have not been ‘averse to contacting the accounts privately’ in the past and highlighted that a leak ‘helps their rivals.’

The publication reports that the Red Devils’ analysts have backed up with ‘hard evidence’ that rival teams benefit their chances of winning with leaked information.

United secured a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and will now return to action this weekend in the FA Cup against Arsenal.

Ruben Amorim’s men will travel to the Emirates on Sunday for the start of their FA Cup title defence, with the third-round tie to kick off at 3pm UK time.
