Manchester United and Ruben Amorim have been put on red alert after an Italian club are expected to hijack a move for one midfielder, according to stunning reports.
Ruben Amorim will no doubt be looking to explore his midfield options as part of a squad overhaul at Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
Manuel Ugarte played under the United manager at Sporting CP and the Uruguayan midfielder has become a preferred midfield pick for Amorim since his arrival.
Kobbie Mainoo broke into the United first team under Erik ten Hag last season and Amorim has often partnered the England star alongside Manuel Ugarte.
However, Amorim has been limited with his other midfield selections and Casemiro and Christian Eriksen could be offloaded in the near future.
Christian Eriksen is out of contract with United in the summer and the 32-year-old Danish midfielder has sporadically featured in the 2024-25 campaign.
Casemiro, meanwhile, is under contract until 2026 and has played for United regularly, but the ex-Real Madrid star has been heavily linked with a move to Al Nassr.

Amorim’s Man Utd linked with €10m-rated player
Manchester United are one Premier League club that is linked with midfielder Christian Ordonez, who is currently playing for Argentine side Velez Sarsfield.
The 20-year-old Velez Sarsfield player has sparked interest from clubs across the world and he only has a release clause of €10m in his current deal.
Christian Ordonez, who has scored once and registered six assists in 70 appearances for Velez Sarsfield, is under contract until December 2025.
Ruben Amorim could be interested in bringing the midfield talent to Old Trafford as a replacement for the ageing Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.
Ordonez is capable of playing as both a central midfielder and as a holding player, with the young talent likely to fit well into Amorim’s tactical system at United.
Italian club interested in Man Utd-linked Ordonez
Premier League side Brentford have shown an interest in Christian Ordonez, while the player has also been linked with Argentine side River Plate.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport now claims that Serie A outfit Bologna could be ready to make a move for Velez Sarsfield midfielder Ordonez ahead of United.
Sport Witness reports that the Italian newspaper has suggested that Bologna want to have ‘a deferred payments deal in place’ for their move for Ordonez.
It is believed that the Italian club are ‘in contact’ with Velez Sarsfield and are keen to set up a ‘meeting’ soon as part of their bid to sign the player amid fierce interest.
Bologna previously signed striker Santiago Castro from Velez Sarsfield in 2024 and are ‘confident’ their relationship with the club puts them in a strong position.
