Lindelof says it is a joy to have Luke Shaw in the team

Victor Lindelof has hailed the recent form of Luke Shaw, who was named Manchester United player of the month for February.

Shaw has been one of United’s most consistent performers all season long and is now back in the England reckoning.

Shaw will expect to be recalled into Gareth Southgate’s plans later this month and Lindelof has seen his improvement close up.

The Swede was full of praise for his defensive colleague, who has responded to the arrival of Alex Telles in the best possible fashion.

“It [Shaw’s form] has been great,” Lindelof told the club’s official website.

I think he has shown all of his qualities and the type of player he is, both defensively and offensively.

“He’s a great player defensively, but also with the ball, when he gets a run with the ball and with his late runs.

It’s a joy to have him in the team and I am very happy for him.”

Shaw was arguably United’s brightest player against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, bursting down the left and firing in a couple of crosses.

He has been able to stay consistently fit and has offered the attacking threat that Telles was brought in to provide.

The player of the month award was richly deserved and he’ll be looking to keep that consistency up as United try and improve on a recent run of three wins in ten Premier League games.

He won’t get many sterner tests than Sunday’s trip to face Manchester City but Shaw has shown of late that he’s got the quality to cope – just like he did at Anfield up against Mo Salah.
