‘He was on fire’… MUTV pundit says Man Utd star left him blown away with training performances

Manchester United have been looking for signs of improvement among the team’s top stars, particularly Marcus Rashford.

Marcus Rashford began to deliver on these hopes with his best performance in pre-season so far in the 3-2 win over Real Betis.

He played more than an hour before hobbling off after a late tackle, however, Rashford was seen after the game looking more sprightly.

Getting Rashford back to top form is a priority for Erik ten Hag. Scoring goals in pre-season, even from the penalty spot, will do wonders for his confidence.

Marcus Rashford looks the part

One area where Marcus Rashford has been criticised during past seasons in his body language, where he has visibly appeared to be lacking confidence or fight.

United expert Andy Mitten said earlier this week he has heard ‘good things’ about Marcus Rashford this pre-season, that he has not heard since 2022.

And now, MUTV pundit Danny Webber has provided his first hand account of watching Rashford in a training session on the USA tour.

Webber told the channel: “He was on fire yesterday, watching the finishing, we were commenting on how well he hits the ball.

“Effortlessly, little backlift, and some of the one v ones where he’s beating people with ease again.

“That comes from mentality, that comes from wanting to do it, that comes from being prepared to make a mistake, and then you find that you don’t.

“He’s just got to take that into the game. We all know he’s got talent in abundance and we want to see him smiling again.”

Marcus Rashford hailed by Harry Amass

One of the Manchester United players who lined up with Marcus Rashford against Real Betis was Harry Amass.

Amass, 17, enjoyed playing alongside Rashford in the 3-2 win, and in a post-game interview he described the forward as ‘unbelievable’.

The teenager is aiming to deputies for Luke Shaw this season, with question marks over Tyrell Malacia.

But with possible precaution to be taken with Rashford against Liverpool, Amass may be linking up with a different player on the left side.
