Manchester United are enduring their worst spell in the Premier League era. The Red Devils have won just eight league games this season.
Although United weren’t expected to challenge for the title this term, sitting 15th in the table means they’re a very long way off where Sir Jim Ratcliffe hoped they’d be.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 14 | 25 | 7 | 9 | 9 | 27 | 31 | -4 | 30 | |
| 15 | 25 | 8 | 5 | 12 | 28 | 35 | -7 | 29 | |
| 16 | 25 | 7 | 6 | 12 | 29 | 47 | -18 | 27 |
An undeniably bad campaign, the Red Devils’ hopes are once again pinned on the Europa League and FA Cup — two competitions they will find hard to win, especially since Amad is ruled out for such a long period.
And following Amad’s injury setback, the pressure is set to fall on another young star’s shoulders, but there are concerns he is not the threat he once was.

Pundit thinks Man United star has lost his spark
Although one of United’s most exciting forwards, Alejandro Garnacho has gone off the boil in recent weeks.
Perhaps falling victim to some intense mid-season transfer speculation, Garnacho was heavily linked with Chelsea and Napoli. Even though a move failed to materialise, the Argentine has struggled to recapture the form that earned him those links.
And ESPN’s Mario Melchiot thinks Ruben Amorim’s arrival has played a big part in the South American’s decline.
“The confidence is so low in that team,” the former Ajax and Chelsea defender said.
“Even if you watch them play, some of the things — you have to understand, before he [Amorim] came in there was one of the kids, for example, in that team — [Alejandro] Garnacho was incredible.
“Look at him now. He looks lost. I don’t see the kid that can hurt a defender, can dribble at him, takes him on, does the things that he normally [does].”
Future yet to be decided
Fans would love for Garnacho to stick around beyond this season. He is a homegrown player and has come through the United Academy. Dubbed ‘one of our own’, the 20-year-old is one of the United fans‘ most adored young stars.
His future at Old Trafford remains massively uncertain, though. Despite being a valued player, there is a feeling that Garnacho could be sold at the end of the season to help Sir Jim Ratcliffe comply with the Premier League’s rules on Profit and Sustainability (PSR).
Until the winger knows what the future has in store for him and where he’ll be playing his football next season, fans and pundits shouldn’t be surprised by his sporadic form.
