Manchester United are on course for their worst-ever Premier League finish.
After winning just eight games all season, the Red Devils are in the bottom half of the table with just 29 points.
Before this campaign, United’s worst-ever Premier League finish was last season under Erik ten Hag when they finished eighth.

It looks like the Dutchman’s successor, Ruben Amorim, is going to beat that record, though.

Since Amorim’s arrival three months ago, United have failed to make any sort of progress.
The only real beneficiary of the Portuguese manager’s appointment has been Amad, who, after being ignored by Ten Hag, has been revived under Amorim.
Jamie Carragher thinks a lot more than just one improved individual is needed though.
“I felt the bar had been so low under Erik ten Hag, I didn’t think it was too difficult to raise it without really competing with the top teams in the country, but it’s actually got lower under the new manager which is not a great thing to say,” he told Sky Sports.
“I know he’s playing a new system but I don’t think it was too difficult to make Manchester United better than what we’ve seen over the last 18 months but it just hasn’t happened at all. Some of the decisions, when you see the teams he’s picked, like [Kobbie] Mainoo as a striker or a False 9 yesterday [Sunday] that’s not right.”
It isn’t just formations and lineups that are costing United though.
One of the biggest contributors to their horrendous league position is their home form.
Home form must improve
Where Old Trafford was once a fortress, the same is not true nowadays.
The Red Devils have played 13 times at home so far this season but have won less than half of those matches.
Losing seven and drawing one at Old Trafford, United have given away a staggering 23 points from matches played on their own turf this season, and Carragher has admitted it’s a problem he didn’t think could get much worse, but has.
He added: “It’s far too easy for teams to go to Old Trafford and win, and it’s actually got worse in the last two or three months than anything I think we ever saw under Erik ten Hag.”
United’s next match is an FA Cup Fourth Round home tie against Leicester City on Friday evening.
A win over Ruud van Nistelrooy’s struggling Foxes will be the only acceptable outcome for Amorim and his side who will then need to prepare for two tricky away league fixtures against Spurs (Feb 16) and Everton (Feb 22).
