Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has now dropped his telling verdict on Elliot Anderson’s performance for Nottingham Forest against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Elliot Anderson has been linked with Manchester United amid the 2025-26 campaign and the Nottingham Forest midfielder’s future at City Ground remains up in the air.

The 23-year-old England international made his presence felt at the weekend during his visit to Old Trafford, with Anderson picking up two superb assists for his side.

Anderson set up Morato for Forest’s early second-half equaliser against United before the midfielder picked up an assist for Morgan Gibbs-White later in the match.

Gary Neville raves about Elliot Anderson’s Premier League display against Man Utd in Nottingham Forest’s defeat

Despite Elliot Anderson’s second-half influence at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, Manchester United successfully overcame Nottingham Forest on the day.

Luke Shaw, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha all found the back of the net to ensure that United walked away with all three Premier League points.

Forest face a tough test in keeping hold of Anderson in the summer, with the club expected to demand a transfer fee worth more than £100m for him.

Speaking after the Red Devils’ Premier League win, Gary Neville talked up the skill that Man Utd-linked Anderson showed with his two assists for Forest at Old Trafford.

“What I like about Anderson is the fact that he looks forward and he contributes,” he said on Sky Sports’ The Gary Neville Podcast.

“The two crosses for the goals were exceptional. I see too many crabs playing central midfield.

“You can’t have too many people who play five-yard passes back and sideways. You need to put players in there who are going to look forward and punch passes through the lines and have their head up.”

Gary Neville raises the major issue that Man Utd face in landing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest

United are not alone in their transfer interest in Forest’s Anderson, who has also been on the radar of Premier League side Manchester City in recent months.

Neville added that Anderson would be the perfect signing for the Red Devils, but the Three Lions ace’s future is in his hands over which side of Manchester he ultimately chooses.

“Elliot Anderson can do that,” he continued.

“He can take set pieces. So, for me, he would be an outstanding candidate to come here.

“But if you believe what you hear, Manchester City also want him, so if it’s a straight fight between the two Manchester clubs, it’ll be interesting to see who he chooses.”

Anderson, who is under contract with Forest until 2029, has netted four times and registered five assists in 49 matches across all competitions this season.
