Gary Neville picked out four former Manchester United teammates and two other legendary players, one past and one present, when building his ultimate player.

The 49-year-old Manchester United legend spent his entire playing career at Old Trafford under legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

One of the famed ‘Class of ’92’ members, Gary Neville made a whopping 598 appearances for the Red Devils and enjoyed incredible success at United.

The former United right-back lifted eight Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, three FA Cups and three League Cups with the club.

Neville also ascended to the United captaincy in 2005 after Ferguson axed Red Devils legend Roy Keane from Old Trafford.

The Sky Sports pundit called it time on his illustrious playing career in 2011 and later endured an ill-fated management spell at Spanish side Valencia.

Man Utd legend Neville builds perfect footballer

Gary Neville shared the pitch with a roster of star-studded talent at Old Trafford, including Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs, Eric Cantona and Wayne Rooney.

Speaking to Goal, the former United and England defender picked out six legendary players – two who are still active – as part of his perfect footballer build.

Neville started off with Barcelona legend Lionel Messi for the left foot before picking former United teammate David Beckham for his right foot.

The ex-United skipper then selected Brazil legend Romario for his speed, with Neville calling the former PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona star an “unbelievable player.”

Neville then went with fellow United legends Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently playing for Al Nassr, and Jaap Stam for their skills and strength respectively.

The ex-Three Lions international completed the build for his perfect footballer with none other than United legend Paul Scholes, who was picked for his football IQ.

Beckham’s praise for Man Utd legend Neville

David Beckham shared a close relationship with Neville both on the pitch and off it and recently opened up about their dynamic on the right flank at United.

“Gaz created the space for me,” he told Rio Ferdinand on the United legend’s YouTube channel.

“You know, that was unselfish runs. And he made a career out of it because we played together for so many years that he made those runs over and over again.

“And every now and again, one out of ten, I’d give him a ball, but it was very rare.

“It was important for us. And I think I’d like to think it was important for United and important for England as well because we had such a great understanding.

“He knew that if I hadn’t run back, which was very rare, I knew that he would be there covering me and vice versa.

“I think that that was why Gary understood that even though 99 per cent of the time when he made those runs, he was never going to get the ball.

“He knew that it was helping the team and helping me. So, it worked both ways.”
