Manchester United legend Gary Neville has admitted that he is still far from convinced by three Red Devils players after the 2-1 win against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay sealed an important Premier League victory for Manchester United at Villa Park.
Hojlund carried on his superb form for United and the 21-year-old Denmark striker fired the Red Devils into a first-half lead against Unai Emery’s men.
However, Aston Villa rallied back in the second half and Douglas Luiz cancelled out Hojlund’s opener, with McTominay coming off the bench and scoring the winner.
United’s win away from home was a huge boost for manager Erik ten Hag, whose Red Devils side are now unbeaten in their last six matches across all competitions.
Ten Hag’s men have won their last three consecutive Premier League matches and are currently sixth in the league table after their win against Villa.
The Red Devils are five points behind fifth-place Villa and six behind fourth-place Tottenham in the race to secure Champions League football for next season.
Neville questions three Man Utd stars
Speaking after the win at Villa Park, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes that there are still question marks over the front three trio at Manchester United.
Rasmus Hojlund has seen a remarkable turnaround at Old Trafford and the Denmark international has now scored in four consecutive Premier League matches for United.
Marcus Rashford, on the other hand, has been criticised over his form this season and was withdrawn in the second half against Aston Villa after his lack of impact.
Alejandro Garnacho has shown moments of brilliance this season for United, but the Red Devils winger has only picked up two assists across all competitions.
“The front three look more settled – Hojlund, Rashford and Garnacho,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“They’re better than they were, but they’re still not great. You still don’t see any patterns or combinations. They concede so many chances.
“They don’t control games. They don’t keep possession better than other teams. But they do have players who can win matches.
“They’re a bit of an odd bunch. They just play in moments during matches.”
Neville talks Man Utd’s top-four ambitions
United will now return to action on 18th February against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, with the Red Devils in the hunt for a top-four Premier League finish.
Neville has said that United are now in the “business end of the season” and that it has been an “up-and-down” campaign for Ten Hag’s men.
“We are now at the business end of the season,” he added.
“It’s been so up and down for United. We are at the stage where they are six-pointers.
“They could’ve been out of it, but as they go over to those United fans, they go within five points and touching distance of being able to catch them [Villa].”
