Match of the Day host Gary Lineker dropped his honest verdict on Erik ten Hag and Manchester United after the 3-0 defeat against Tottenham on Sunday.
Erik ten Hag suffered a major setback after a humiliating loss in the Premier League on the weekend, with the Manchester United boss coming under scathing criticism.
The 54-year-old Dutchman, who signed a contract extension in the summer, has been under mounting pressure over United’s run of form in the current campaign.
United have only managed seven points from a possible 18 in their opening six Premier League matches in the 2024-25 campaign under Ten Hag.
The Red Devils blew their advantage over FC Twente in their Europa League opener last week and were held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
United were unable to bounce back from the FC Twente draw in their Premier League clash with Tottenham, with Spurs securing a convincing win on Sunday.

Lineker reacts to Ten Hag and Man Utd
Erik ten Hag now faces an uphill task in turning the tide of momentum back in his favour after the humiliating 3-0 Premier League defeat to Tottenham.
Manchester United will face Porto on Thursday in the Europa League before their trip to Villa Park on Sunday for the Premier League clash against Aston Villa.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football, Gary Lineker admitted that United were “wanting in every department” after their latest setback against Spurs.
The 63-year-old former England striker added that he was curious to know what United’s owners the Glazers and Sir Jim Ratcliffe think of the Red Devils’ run so far
“Blimey, more pain for Manchester United fans,” Lineker said.
“How many times have we said what is their plan, what is their way of playing? They were found wanting in every department.
“It’s hard to see him actually turning this around now, isn’t it? He must be under terrible pressure. Who knows what the owners think, you never really know.
“We will see what happens in the next few days because there’s going to be some fallout from that particular performance.”
Man Utd boss Ten Hag switches focus
Despite the speculation over his future at Old Trafford, Ten Hag insisted that the season is “still very young” and United must now focus on their clash with Porto.
“It is always a new day,” he said after the Spurs match, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“I told them, just in the dressing room, to come on. Tomorrow is a new day. We definitely have to learn, we have to do things better.
“We have to be better in the pressing and also better on the ball. There were situations where we could have played better, found the spare man and kept the ball and we didn’t, which was so disappointing.
“I just focus on Porto. We close this game down, deal with it and then we move on. We will turn this around. Tomorrow, we will start all over again. The season is still very young, with many games to play.”
