Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has commented on Wout Weghorst‘s most recent Instagram post following the striker’s loan move to Manchester United.
The 30-year-old, who plays alongside De Jong for the Netherlands, has joined the Red Devils on loan for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign from Championship leaders Burnley.
The 19-time Netherlands international had expected to spend the season on loan at Besiktas, but as soon as Erik ten Hag expressed his interest, Weghorst was hell bent on securing a dream move to the Theatre of Dreams.
The Turkish giants received a £2.6million compensation payment due to Weghorst’s time in Istanbul ending prematurely.

Weghorst, who has been allocated shirt number 27, trained with his new teammates at Carrington for the first time yesterday.
Had the towering striker’s temporary move to M16 been registered by noon on Friday, Weghorst would have been available to form part of United’s matchday squad that beat Manchester City 2-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday, in a pulsating derby.
The former Wolfsburg striker, who made the move to Turf Moor in January 2021, could make his debut for the twenty-time league champions against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
De Jong, who was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, has wished Weghorst well in his new move.
The midfield maestro, who Ten Hag was keen to reunite with following their success together at Ajax, reacted to Weghorst’s Instagram post.

Manchester United will face De Jong’s Barcelona in the Europa League play-off with the two-legged tie taking place next month.
