Rio Ferdinand has warned Ruben Amorim of a real problem that one Manchester United star is now facing after the Red Devils’ 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Ruben Amorim was unable to see the Red Devils build momentum in their first Premier League match since the end of the September international break.
The Red Devils had entered the Manchester derby on Sunday after securing their first win of the 2025-26 season in August, with Manchester United beating Burnley.
Manchester City welcomed United to the Etihad on the weekend and Pep Guardiola engineered an important Premier League win for his side in the Manchester derby.
Phil Foden opened the scoring in the first half for City before Erling Haaland netted a second-half brace to put Pep Guardiola’s men out of reach for United on Sunday.

Rio Ferdinand doesn’t hold back his true feelings on Benjamin Sesko after the Man Utd striker’s performance vs Man City
Benjamin Sesko received his first Manchester United start in the Premier League at the Etihad, with the Slovenia international arriving at Old Trafford in the summer.
The 22-year-old United striker’s first three Premier League appearances under Ruben Amorim had come from the bench since his blockbuster move last month.
However, Sesko struggled to exert his influence over the proceedings at the Etihad and the Slovenian forward lacked much-needed service from the United players.
Speaking after Manchester City’s win over United, former TNT Sports pundit Rio Ferdinand admitted that it is a “concern” to see the lack of support Sesko received.
“The one I’m worried about is Sesko,” he said on the ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents’ YouTube channel.
“He ain’t getting no chances, he ain’t getting no opportunities, there’s nothing created for him.
“That’s the concern. A new striker comes [into] the football club, gets in the team, you’ve got to think about creating chances for him.”
Rio Ferdinand tells Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim what needs fixing amid Benjamin Sesko’s struggles against Man City
Benjamin Sesko’s involvement in the Manchester derby came to an end late in the second half, with United manager Amorim replacing him with midfielder Casemiro.
United legend Ferdinand has said that Amorim must look at a way of making sure that Sesko is finding a way to latch himself onto any service that he might receive.
“Getting him [Sesko] on the end of things,” he added.
“He’s got to think about getting on [to] the end of things. That’s something I think has got to be looked at, and fixed quick.
“I don’t want to think about what it could turn out to be.”
Sesko has made five appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils and the United striker has not found the back of the net in open play for his side so far.
