The left-back, who has been capped five times for his country, arrives on a five-year deal, with the option of a further 12 months.

Manchester United paid the Eredivisie side £12.9million for Malacia who made 136 appearances for his former club after coming through the academy at his boyhood club.

In similar fashion to when Donny van de Beek arrived at Old Trafford, Dutch outfit Feyenoord have politely asked the Red Devils to look after their former star.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper and current Ajax director Edwin van der Sar did the same when Manchester United paid the Amsterdam side £35m to sign Van de Beek.

Things haven’t necessarily gone to plan for United’s number 34 since arriving to England, but he’ll be hoping for a change of fortunes now that he’s been reunited with his former Ajax boss Ten Hag.

Malacia, who will be competing with the likes of Luke Shaw, Alex Telles, Brandon Williams and potentially even Alvaro Fernandez for the left-back spot, will be hoping to hit the ground running and establish himself as a first team regular.

With Malacia being unveiled as the club’s first signing of the Ten Hag tenure, Manchester United fans will be hoping further signings follow in the Dutchman’s footsteps.

With Ten Hag and his travelling party, which will likely include Malacia, departing for Bangkok on Friday, for the first part of Tour 22, the club will be hoping to announce further signings in the coming days.

Christian Eriksen has ‘verbally agreed’ a three-year with Manchester United and the club continue to work on deals for Lisandro Martinez and Frenkie de Jongm, while retaining an interest in another of Ten Hag’s former charges – Antony.
