Because of Ederson’s late Brazil call-up, there are now 14 Manchester United players competing in this summer’s World Cup.
In 2022, Lisandro Martinez won the World Cup with Argentina and was the standout United player at the tournament.

- Kobbie Mainoo with England
- Matheus Cunha with Brazil
- Lisandro Martinez with Argentina
- Bruno Fernandes with Portugal
United fans voted for Fernandes as their winner, with the Red Devils captain picking up 62% of the votes.
Mainoo finished second with 19% of votes, while Cunha earned 13% and Martinez earned 6%.

A stunning 2025/26 campaign at United earned Fernandes the FWA Footballer of the Year 2026. He also won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award at Old Trafford.
Fernandes is also the frontrunner to win the PFA Player of the Year.
It is no surprise that United fans are expecting big things from Fernandes in the World Cup, especially in a midfield alongside PSG duo Vitinha and Joao Neves.
Fernandes is dreaming of winning the World Cup, and if he does go on to win it with Portugal, it might not be the end of his trophy haul.
He would enter the Ballon d’Or conversation as one of the best players in the world in 2026.
