Fabrizio Romano says he regards it as a certainty that Donny van de Beek will leave Manchester United in January.

Donny van de Beek‘s transfer to Manchester United has turned out to be one of the most disastrous of recent times, and at this club, there is lots of competition.

Van de Beek has struggled for game time ever since he joined the club, and has also had to battle injury issues.

Right now he feels like a player who has outstayed his welcome, with a total of 21 minutes action this season only.

Donny van de Beek expected to leave

Fabrizio Romano is very confident Donny van de Beek will be leaving in the January transfer window. At least that is the player and club’s intentions.

Romano told The United Stand: “Yes, Donny will leave in January for sure. He has to and he wants to because he wants to play. It’s a shame because Donny wanted to play for Man United, he loved this opportunity, but at the same time, he is never playing.

“He also knows after the injury he needs regular football. he can’t stay on the bench, not even on the bench, for a long time.”

Van de Beek had expected to leave in the summer before a move to Real Sociedad fell through over Manchester United’s demands for a loan fee.

Romano added that Man United were not very happy’ with Van de Beek subsequently turning down move to Turkey and waiting for January.

The mid-season window is typically more difficult to do business in than the summer, but Van de Beek’s situation is a desperate one. His agent should be working already to line up a move for January 1.

Van de Beek has made two appearances

This season Donny van de Beek has played twice for Manchester United. He featured for 19 minutes in the Carabao Cup match against Crystal Palace, and then for two minutes in the subsequent Premier League match.

Since then he has not featured at all. He was an unused substitute in league games against Brentford and Sheffield United, but since then, has failed to make a matchday squad.

Van de Beek was not named in the Champions League squad, an indication Manchester United expected him to leave, and in January all parties may get their wish.
