Let’s preface this with a warning. If you are squeamish, then look away.
A new angle of the tackle on Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek shows how serious the injury appears to be.
The Dutchman is dealing with an injury after a foul by Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi at Old Trafford.
The picture below shows Van de Beek’s leg bent at an unnatural angle. It looks like a serious injury.

Van de Beek was seen on the pitch in serious pain and had to be helped off the pitch. It was to his credit that he was not stretchered off.
This was the Dutchman’s first start for the club since November, and it ended after just 44 minutes in United’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth.
Manager Erik ten Hag admitted after the game that the injury really did not look promising.
He told the club website: “We have to wait and then you can make the right diagnosis, so the medical team have to do their work. But it doesn’t look great.
“What has happened to Donny is bad, in the first place, for Donny but also bad news for Manchester United, if it is a bad injury.”
A worst case scenario for Van de Beek is that he is out injured for the rest of the season. That looks like a real possibility, looking at the severity of the injury.
We can only hope that’s not the case, and whatever the official diagnosis, that he has a swift recovery.
