Fabrizio Romano says Erik ten Hag has agreed to become manager at club seven months after Man Utd exit

Manchester United’s season has been one to forget from start to finish, with Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim both struggling through the same problems.

The first year of Ineos running the footballing side of Manchester United has been an absolute disaster, with hirings and firings being the biggest downside in terms of the impact on the team.

It all started last summer, when United chose to keep Erik ten Hag after the club had finished eighth in the league, with his saving grace being lifting the FA Cup.

Between then and now, Ineos fired sporting director Dan Ashworth inside six months of his appointment, which makes the decision makers look inexperienced and naive.

After Ten Hag was fired by United in October, the club also made a mistake in appointing Ruben Amorim mid-season with his system drastically different and never likely to catch on immediately with this group of players who are far from good enough.

Since then, United have been worse than ever under Amorim, while Ten Hag will likely feel vindicated over the job he did.

Erik ten Hag says yes to taking charge of Bayer Leverkusen

Ten Hag has been out of work since October, as he was expected to want to take charge of his new club in the summer ahead of the new season and pre-season.

Well, now Fabrizio Romano has claimed that he may be set to take charge of his new club soon as he has agreed to become the manager of Bayer Leverkusen after Xabi Alonso leaves for Real Madrid.

Ten Hag is now waiting for the outcome of Leverkusen’s decision, as they have talked with several candidates.

It is added that Ten Hag has given his priority to Leverkusen, with Ajax waiting behind the scenes in the event the Dutchman does not get appointed at the Bundesliga side.

This was also reported by Florian Plettenberg, who claimed Ajax were ‘seriously considering’ Ten Hag; however, he is Leverkusen’s top choice if Cesc Fabregas falls through.

Bayer Leverkusen job is perfect for Erik ten Hag

Somehow, Ten Hag could be set to take a step up with his next job, as right now, Leverkusen are a far better team than United, with better players.

Here, Ten Hag will simply be able to take over from Alonso with players who suit his style and a club that suits his personality and qualities.

Ten Hag will also have funds to make the team his own as well, with the sale of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz likely also leaving for a substantial fee.

If we had to predict, we would imagine Ten Hag will be a big success in Germany, and perhaps he will even arrive at United’s door to re-sign some of the players he brought to Old Trafford, with Rasmus Hojlund having admirers in the Bundesliga.
