The era of Michael Carrick at Man Utd is close to starting officially, and one man’s presence in it is set to be central to his plans.
After a miraculous run of results since taking over in January, it is a matter of when, and not if, Michael Carrick becomes the permanent Man Utd manager.
The official announcement was expected after the Forest game, but it didn’t happen. The contract is sealed and signed, as reported by many.
Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that another man central to Carrick’s plans is set to be rewarded with a new contract.

Have you been impressed with Michael Carrick’s coaching staff?
Would you keep them all if he becomes permanent?🤔
Steve Holland set for new Man Utd contract
The one major change from Carrick’s staff at Middlesbrough to Man Utd is the presence of Steve Holland.
Numerous pieces have been written about Holland’s pedigree, with players praising his impact, to Carrick elevating his credentials every chance he gets.
The impact he has had is undeniable, and it’s clear that he needs to stay as a part of Man Utd’s coaching staff with Carrick.
As per Romano, United are making moves to make that a reality, as a new contract for Holland has been ‘signed’ that puts him in line with Carrick.
Just like the manager, his deal runs until 2028, with the option to extend for another year, with Holland seen as a ‘crucial’ member of the staff.
This news will go down extremely well with Man Utd fans who have been raving about Holland’s impact on the team, as they can look forward to him working his magic with an even better group of players next season.
Michael Carrick’s coaching staff will evolve more
United have gone for stability in the coaching staff, which is the right approach, because you don’t fix what isn’t broken.
Carrick says Top 5 isn’t enough. Honestly, based on his run, do you think we are a genuine Title Contender for next season?
Having said that, standing still is akin to going backwards, and United are also addressing that issue by continuing to evolve the coaching staff.
The current team is expected to remain, and deservedly so, but United could add a set-piece coach to the mix for next season.
Jonny Evans has been organising set-pieces this season, and Carrick has given him a lot of credit for United’s success at them, but a dedicated person is the norm at most clubs now.
In addition, someone who coaches attacking patterns wouldn’t go amiss, and someone like Aaron Danks has been mooted for the role.
Sir Alex Ferguson regularly refreshed the voices in his backroom staff to keep the players attentive, and Carrick should go for the same approach in the long run.
Right now, the setup works perfectly, and Holland getting an extension with Carrick is proof of that.
