Michael Carrick is expected to be appointed permanent head coach at Manchester United, with Steve Holland and other backroom staff members to be offered new deals.
It has been a remarkable turnaround from Manchester United since January, when Ruben Amorim was sacked. Michael Carrick was appointed interim head coach before restoring some consistency and securing Champions League qualification.
There are a lot of factors behind United’s improvement under Carrick. From putting players in their correct positions to creating a competitive environment with the help of his backroom staff.
Of the new coaching set-up that was formed by Carrick, Steve Holland has by far the most experience. The others include Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, and Travis Binnion.

The latest surrounding Carrick’s future is that he will be offered a two-year deal with an option for a third.
Along with that, United could bring Andreas Georgson back to the club.
Georgson was initially brought to United by Erik ten Hag in the summer of 2024, leaving his role as manager of Norwegian club Lillestrom.
Carrick’s current backroom staff look set to be offered new deals to remain at the club, so the journalists at Friday’s press conference were keen to get the 44-year-old’s views on the importance of Holland.
“Steve has been fantastic,” Carrick told reporters.
“He’s got an awful lot of experience, he’s seen everything before, gone through it, some good times and more challenging times.
“He’s a very wise man; he says things that are important at the right time. Just general calmness and composure around for everyone, for me and my staff, the players as well, the dynamics of bringing something a bit different.
“Steve is in that role where he has the experience to lean on. There is absolutely no shame in that at all.”
