Former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe has praised Manchester United’s summer transfer business.
Lee Sharpe played in one of the most exciting Manchester United teams of all time in the mid-1990s. And like many players from that era, he set a high bar compared to the current day teams.
Many former United players are totally negative about the team’s situation, with good reason.
So it is very welcome to hear a player like Lee Sharpe being positive about two players in this current team who have really impressed him.

Lee Sharpe praises Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha
Manchester United spent big in the summer to sign two proven Premier League players, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
Mbeumo scored Manchester United’s opening goal in the win over Liverpool, his fourth goal since joining the Red Devils.
Cunha is yet to score, but he has earned plaudits with the way he has played. He was a vital contributor across the 90 minutes in the victory at Anfield.
Speaking to MUTV, Sharpe raved: “They’ve been an absolute breath of fresh air. The pair of them, they know they’re prepared to run forward, they’re prepared to run in behind people and upset defences.
“I thought Cunha was unbelievable, holding the ball up with his strength, and power, and ability, the two of them have been exceptional.”
Manchester United’s signings are shrewd additions
Manchester United’s summer transfer window was somewhat divisive because the club did not sign any midfielders.
There is a fear that United went too top-heavy in attack, with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko all signed.
But if you look at each player on an individual basis, all three of them appear to be worthy additions to this Manchester United that will pay off long-term.
United will address the midfield position in the upcoming transfer windows, with Casemiro expected to leave next summer.
Mbeumo, Cunha and Sesko are all making their presence felt regardless and making a positive impression, and with goalkeeper Senne Lammens having a positive impact too – United may have got all four signings spot on.
