Ex United star Marcos Rojo sent off after just 16 minutes

It remains one of life’s mysteries how Marcos Rojo was never ever sent off playing for Manchester United.

The tough tackling Argentine defender was no stranger to picking up yellow cards for United, he just somehow managed to escape seeing red.

Well, you can’t avoid the inevitable for too long.

United released Rojo back in January, allowing him to join Boca Juniors on a free transfer.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Rojo may not be too popular at Boca right now.

Lining up as a starter in the fierce derby against River Plate, Rojo was sent off after just 16 minutes.

Rojo’s sending off came as a result of two bookings, with the first coming just a couple of minutes earlier. The defender was clearly too fired up for this one.

River went onto score two first half goals and secure victory, with Rojo’s red proving costly.

An early red card for Rojo is very ‘on brand’ for him and almost a little heartwarming to see.

It’s good to see him playing regularly again after all his injury struggles at United. A short suspension will now be forthcoming though.

Rojo’s last United appearance came in 2019, before a loan at Estudiantes.

He then returned to train with United last season, playing once for the under-23s, before he was released.

He has gone onto play 23 times for Boca, now picking up 10 yellow cards and one red.
