Former Red Devils star Jesse Lingard has broken his silence and shared his reaction to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes calling him out on social media.
Lingard is currently a free agent and on the hunt for a new club after he was released by Nottingham Forest at the end of the previous Premier League campaign.
The 31-year-old former United player has since spent time with Saudi Arabian side Al Ettifaq and even played in a friendly for Steven Gerrard’s men.
Lingard attracted interest from former side West Ham after he became a free agent, but a reunion with ex-United manager David Moyes failed to materialise.
The ex-England international, who was recently linked with Newcastle and Fulham, has even been ‘offered’ to La Liga side Barcelona in his bid to sign for a new club.

Lingard reacts to Scholes’ callout
Scholes surprisingly pulled no punches towards Lingard and took aim at the former United star spending more time in training rather than playing for a new club.
Lingard on Tuesday posted a photo of himself on Instagram where he was working out, with the ex-Three Lions star tagging his location as Dubai.
Responding to the post, Scholes wrote: “Are you just gonna ____ about in the gym or are you gonna actually play football?”
Scholes has since deleted his post, but not before eagle-eyed fans spotted the United legend’s message to Lingard.
However, Lingard took to Instagram himself and posted a comment reacting to Scholes’ callout, with the former United man sharing a series of smiley faces.

Lingard’s hunt for a new club continues
All eyes are on Lingard over what the former Red Devils player does next after a disappointing spell with Forest.
Lingard had trained with West Ham after his time at Forest came to an end and it seemed that a return to the Hammers would suit him.
The former Three Lions international was loaned out to West Ham in 2021 and Lingard saw a resurgence in form under Hammers boss Moyes.
Lingard has attracted interest from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and MLS in the past, but it remains unclear where the ex-United academy product will land next.
