Erik ten Hag believes Man Utd has a better youngster than Facundo Pellistri, but he could lose him too

Manchester United are set to wave goodbye to Facundo Pellistri, the latest player to leave the club on loan.

Facundo Pellistri has joined La Liga strugglers Granada on a loan deal until the end of the season, with the club confirming the move.

Pellistri’s agent blasted Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, which would have made it awkward if a deal had fallen through.

Ten Hag has taken a close look at Pellistri over the past 18 months and has not come to the conclusion that he should be a regular starter.

Erik ten Hag has plans for Omari Forson

One of the reasons Erik ten Hag is content to let Facundo Pellistri leave, is because he believes he has a more promising player coming through the ranks.

According to The Mail, Ten Hag believes Omari Forson has higher potential than the Uruguay international winger.

Forson played more minutes in pre-season than Pellistri, and also came off the bench in the recent FA Cup clash instead.

After making his senior debut earlier this month, more opportunities could open up for the England youth international.

Forson has seven goals at youth level for Manchester United this season and is now training with the first team squad on a regular basis.

Ten Hag could lose Forson too

The trouble with Manchester United’s hopes for Omari Forson is that he could yet leave the club this summer when his current deal expires.

The Daily Mail report Forson has turned down Manchester United’s new contract offer, a move United In Focus understands left the club ‘shocked’.

This has not so far counted against Forson. He was in the first team in the FA Cup and played against Wigan, so clearly Erik ten Hag has not given up on trying to win him over.

The Dutchman believes he has great potential, so it will be interesting to see if he re-signs.
