Former Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is enduring a tumultuous time at Besiktas.
When Eric Bailly left Manchester United in September for a fresh start at Besiktas, he would have been hoping for a calm, drama-free stint in his career.
But this is Eric Bailly, a player who often appeared larger than life behind the scenes, and was a walking accident on the pitch at times.
His loan spell at Marseille last summer saw him pick up a lengthy ban for a high challenge which landed an opponent in intensive care. Last night, it was Bailly who ended up in hospital.

Eric Bailly injured
Eric Bailly was in action for Besiktas as a starter last night in a Europa Conference League match against Bodo/Glimt. They ended up losing 2-1.
Bailly was only on the pitch for 27 minutes, substituted off with the game at 0-0, having to be helped off the pitch by the medical staff after a clash of heads.
Assistant boss Hari Vukas told Fotospor: “Eric Bailly suffered a head trauma. He is currently in the hospital and under control. His condition does not seem very serious, but the medical team will inform.”
Bailly’s all-action style makes him susceptible to these type of injuries. He would frequently fail to make it through games for Manchester United, and was substituted off in the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea in similar circumstances.
The Europa Conference League has not gone well for Bailly and Besiktas. Earlier in the competition he scored an own goal to cause his team to lose 3-2 to Lugano.
Back in the team
It was a pretty impressive turnaround for Eric Bailly to be in the starting line-up at all for Besiktas last night.
At the weekend, Bailly was substituted at half-time after a reported clash with his teammate, and interim manager Burak Yilmaz criticised him for an ‘inappriopriate’ action.
Everything was seemingly smoothed over in the ensuing days, with Bailly back in the selection last night, before his untimely injury. It’s never dull where Eric Bailly is involved, but at this stage, as Manchester United fans can attest to.
