Ruben Amorim has shown little at Manchester United for fans to believe in during the 10 months of suffering he has endured.
Amid a worst start to the season since 1992, the pressure is on for Ruben Amorim, and put plainly, he needs to beat Chelsea this weekend.
This will be the narrative in the backdrop of Saturday evening’s clash between Manchester United and the Blues at Old Trafford.
United haven’t lost at home to Chelsea since 2013, which is an incredible record that has been retained throughout the troubled years at the club.
Another story on the day will be Alejandro Garnacho’s homecoming at United, which won’t be one where he is met with open arms.
Now ahead of the game this weekend, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has spoken about his view of the struggling situation of Amorim at Old Trafford.

Enzo Maresca backs Ruben Amorim to turn Manchester United around
Chelsea against United is always a blockbuster clash, even when one is drastically lower in the league than the other.
The visiting side this weekend is the reigning world champions, with Maresca turning Chelsea into an impressive side after their brief few years of struggling.
Maresca has now been speaking ahead of the game, and when asked about Amorim, he spoke full of praise, admitting he is convinced of the Portuguese head coach’s quality.
“I really appreciate Ruben Amorim. He’s a magnificent manager.
“Sometimes you can struggle a little bit more or less at the start of a project. I have no doubt he’s a fantastic manager, I watched his games since in Sporting”.
Continuing, Maresca admitted United’s results this season have almost given a false perception of the team, which deserved more than the four points achieved.
“Some of the games they have played this season are not the real result, even the [Manchester] City game. It will be a tough game, no doubt.”
So while few United fans have faith in Amorim, his opponent this weekend does.
Ruben Amorim will hope everything clicks against Chelsea
This season, United’s performances have not been bad at all, despite the results suggesting otherwise.

On paper, United should have beaten Arsenal and Fulham, which would have the club on nine points at the moment, and likely Amorim being heralded for the turnaround.
United have had poor finishing this season, leading to a worst in the league record for underperforming expected goals. Meanwhile, defensively, most of the goals conceded have come through individual errors.
The one hope keeping United fans from turning on the head coach will be that these issues could turn at any point, and the team could click. If that comes against Chelsea, it would be perfect timing to build some momentum.
