Edinson Cavani has been praised for the way he led Manchester United’s victory over Tottenham at the weekend.
Cavani was making his first United start since September and led the line as part of a front two alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
After the way United’s approach against Liverpool was rightfully criticised and picked apart by analysts, Cavani’s role in the club’s 3-0 victory has been receiving the plaudits.

Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football that he felt Cavani set the tone for United’s win from the opening moments in North London.
Carragher said: “With less than a minute on the clock you could see the reaction straight away.
“Edinson Cavani was outstanding, his decision to go and engage the press was aggressive and he sprinted, and it was followed up by Harry Maguire. United were on the front foot, right on top of Spurs.”
Cavani almost scored a first half header before netting his chance in the second when played through by Cristiano Ronaldo.
It was the striker’s first goal of the season for club or country and will lift his confidence.
Cavani has scored 391 club goals now in his career and is fast closing in on 400. Teammate Ronaldo has 681 at club level.
Both Cavani and Ronaldo were named in the BBC Team of the Week after their showing in the 3-0 win.
How often can they play together?
Cavani is 34 and Ronaldo is 36 and United have to utilise them sensibly, especially the Uruguayan, who has had spells out with minor injury issuses during his spell at the club.
Just two days after the Spurs game, United are in action tonight against Atalanta in the Champions League.
And then on Saturday lunchtime, United host Manchester City in a crucial fixture in the Premier League.

Can United really select both strikers together for three games in eight games. Perhaps. Is it wise? Probably not considering the other resources available.
Marcus Rashford is on a hot streak with three goals in four games, and Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial are also hoping for chances too.
Cavani may get the start against City at the weekend, and for this to happen, it might be sensible to give Rashford the start tonight against Atalanta.
