After saying a goodbye to Ajax on social media last night, new signing Donny van de Beek has a message for Manchester United fans too.
Van de Beek says he has been overwhelmed by the support from the Red Devils’ fanbase since his transfer was announced by the club.
Van de Beek has more than 200,000 followers now on Twitter, having had around just 50,000 prior to his move being announced.
A job to do first
Van de Beek plays on Friday night for the Netherlands in their UEFA Nations League clash against Poland.
On Monday the Dutch face Italy, and then he will be able to fly to Manchester to join up with his new teammates.
United play the first game of the new season on September 19, giving Van de Beek extra preparation time at Carrington, with most Premier League fixtures kicking off on the 12th.
This provides Van de Beek with more time than Bruno Fernandes had, after he joined the club and had just one day to train before starting against Wolves.
Harry Maguire likewise had just a couple of days training after his late move from Leicester City last August before making his debut.
Whoever United sign next may face a very short turnaround like that, but for Van de Beek, he will have ample time to get acclimatised before his possible debut.
