Donny van de Beek has had a successful early start at Everton. The Dutchman produced an eye-catching performance in his first Premier League start of the season, which came on Saturday in the 3-0 win against Leeds at Goodison Park.

He has been named in Alan Shearer’s Premier League team of the week, adding to the recognition he had already received.

The Toffees’ new number 30 has already received praise from his manager Frank Lampard and teammate Anthony Gordon.

But the plaudits continue to keep coming for the 24-year-old, and his display against Marcelo Bielsa’s side caught the attention of the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer.

Van de Beek was the only Manchester United representative in Shearer’s team as his parent club continue to struggle.

Given his reasons for including van de Beek in his team, Shearer said: “After struggling for game time this season, he hit the ground running and showed why Manchester United brought him to England.”

It seems that the change of scenery has done wonders for the Dutch international, and it could be argued that his performance against the Whites was his best performance since arriving in England.

No Everton player won more tackles (4) or won as many aerial duels (3) as van de Beek did on Saturday.

With his confidence seemingly restored and his playing prospects dramatically improved, van de Beek looks to have finally got the chance to show he has the attributes to be a success in the Premier League.

With Manchester United set to announce their new permanent manager at the end of the season, the 24-year-old could be given the chances he failed to receive under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

Donny van de Beek has got his Everton career off to a great start, but every positive performance he has under Lampard will mean that United’s decision to allow to him leave last month will come under the microscope.
