Shea Lacey was a late substitute as Manchester United attempted to find a winner, and no player on the pitch came closer.
Lacey had one thing on his mind when he got possession, he was desperate to attack the goal and find space to shoot.
The teenager almost managed it, firing in one thunderous shot that crashed back off the crossbar.
Lacey had another attempt minutes later, sending another powerful long-range shot whizzing narrowly wide of the goal. Both times goalkeeper Martin Dubravka was left stranded.
Speaking after the game, interim manager Darren Fletcher explained his instructions.
He explained: “I said to him, ‘stay wide and go and do what you can do’.
“He is exciting, he is direct, he is fearless.”
Lacey showed exactly those traits, although he was confident enough to leave the wide areas to drift inside to take those two shots at goal.
