Ruben Amorim is gone, but the games won’t stop for Manchester United as Darren Fletcher prepares to lead the first team against Burnley.
Monday brought a bombshell for the footballing world as Manchester United sacked Ruben Amorim, with the decision being for several reasons.
Amorim wasn’t sacked for nothing, as it took a culmination of results and a falling out within the ranks of the club. Combined with Amorim’s public criticism of United’s hierarchy, while the Red Devils are already getting ready to move on.
Name the player you are most excited to see play under Darren Fletcher in his opening game in charge….
Darren Fletcher will be in charge of the next two games at least, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considered a caretaker option until the end of the season.
Fletcher deploys a 4-2-3-1 system, and in terms of style, he will bring a way of playing football that should really please United fans.

Darren Fletcher has outlined his coaching ethos already for Manchester United U18s
Fletcher taking charge of United should see a back four, with wingers, and definitely a more risky brand of football compared to Amorim.
Having been United-born and raised, Fletcher is a disciple of Sir Alex Ferguson’s footballing brand, similar to Solskjaer.
Speaking to MUTV after an U18 victory earlier this season, Fletcher admitted wanting to play with ‘United DNA’.
“Our fast attacks are proper United. I have been showing them the old clips of, well, not me, but Rooney, Ronaldo, Ji-Sung Park counter-attack goals, Giggs, and Kanchelskis.
“Trying to show them a bit of that Man United DNA, and that came out today, which is fantastic.”
What are your hopes and expectations with Darren Fletcher in charge at Man Utd?
Darren Fletcher replaces Ruben Amorim as interim boss
This move by Fletcher will have been to teach the kids about United’s way of playing football, but it will probably reflect how he instructs the senior team to play on Wednesday night against Burnley.
Fletcher should be assistant for Manchester United’s caretaker
Assuming the club doesn’t decide to give Fletcher the rest of this season based on the next two games, the Scottish coach should be promoted to the coaching staff of whoever is picked.
Who do YOU want as the next Man Utd manager?
What traits are you looking for?
The caretaker manager will likely be a former player, with Michael Carrick and Solskjaer the two temporary options being considered.
If either of these two arrives, or someone else, Fletcher has the ability to be at first-team level and could be very beneficial as an assistant.
Sir Alex tipped Fletcher to shine as a coach and future manager; now he has the golden chance to prove exactly why this was the case.
