Darren Fletcher created game plan for FA Cup triumph

United won the 2024 FA Cup against Manchester City in dramatic fashion, and Ten Hag achieved the feat despite huge pressure mounting around his future.

According to The Independent, Ten Hag wanted to go “toe-to-toe” with Manchester City at Wembley, but he was eventually discouraged by Fletcher.

Fletcher reportedly spent hours internally debating Ten Hag’s tactics before eventually persuading the United boss to change the game plan.

Ineos decided to keep Ten Hag as manager until October, when he was sacked for a poor start to the season.

Darren Fletcher has earned Man United opportunity

The legendary Sir Alex Ferguson tipped Fletcher to become a manager during his playing days, and now he has earned his opportunity in the hot seat.

United’s statement suggests that Fletcher is only temporarily in charge, but he has a chance to follow in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s footsteps and earn a permanent appointment.
