Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen produced a man of the match display in his solitary appearance to date against former club Tottenham Hotspur.

The 30-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Red Devils in July following the expiry of his short-term contract with Brentford.

After helping inspire the Bees to safety in their maiden campaign in the Premier League, following his arrival in January, the Denmark playmaker opted to join Erik ten Hag’s Reds over re-signing with Thomas Frank’s men.

In the ten games Eriksen started for the West London outfit, Brentford’s former number 21 contributed one goal and four assists.

But from a possible 30 points, Brentford amassed an impressive 22 points to move comfortably clear of the relegation zone.

The only draw that Eriksen featured in for the Bees was against his former employees Spurs.

On 23 April, the Scandinavian midfield maestro came up against Tottenham who are managed by his former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte.

Not that Conte or Spurs needed reminding of the technical qualities Eriksen possesses, but the Ajax Academy graduate produced an eye-catching performance.

Eriksen had 73 touches against the north Londoners, and the four chances the Dane created was more than any other player on the pitch, reports WhoScored.

The 117-time Denmark international was named man of the match in his only outing against the side that brought him to England.

Manchester United fans will be hoping that Eriksen produces another inspired performance in his second appearance against Conte’s Spurs.

After starting all eight of United’s Premier League games, Eriksen missed Sunday’s goalless draw against Newcastle United through illness.

The Red Devils missed our number 14’s invention, but Ten Hag gave an encouraging update on Eriksen’s potential availability against Spurs in his pre-match press conference.

Ben Davies has already spoken about how Tottenham will work on a plan to thwart their former playmaker, but when Eriksen is at his best sometimes there isn’t any possible plan that can be implemented to stop his genius coming to the fore and proving the difference.
