Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies is wary of the threat Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen will pose in Wednesday’s Premier League clash.

The Denmark playmaker was a big miss for Erik ten Hag’s side in yesterday’s goalless draw against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

The former Spurs midfielder was ruled out of the clash against Eddie Howe’s Magpies due to illness.

It remains to be seen whether the 30-year-old, who joined the Red Devils on a free transfer in the summer, will return for the clash against the North Londoners at the Theatre of Dreams.

Eriksen, who will come up against his former Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte, will also reunite with several of his former Spurs teammates.

Davies, who played alongside Eriksen 147 times for Spurs, has spoken in glowing terms about United’s number 14 ahead of the midweek blockbuster Premier League clash.

The Wales international is more than aware of the quality Eriksen brings and he knows Spurs will have to do their utmost to stop Eriksen conjuring up his moments of magic.

Speaking via Football London, Tottenham’s number 33 said: “He’s a world class player, any time he has the ball and has time he’s very dangerous.

“So as a team I’m sure we’ll watch him in the next few days and come up with a plan of action to stop him.”

Wednesday’s clash between the two sides comes seven months after an inspired Cristiano Ronaldo proved the difference in the same fixture last season.

United’s number seven scored a hat-trick to oust Conte’s men and Davies accepted that the Red Devils came out on top thanks to Ronaldo’s brilliance.

“We played well in that game,” said Davies.

“We actually played well, we were quite decent, but Ronaldo seemed to have his day and it was a tough one to take.”

Ten Hag’s men, who sit fifth in the table, are seven points behind Conte’s side, but Spurs have played a game more.
