Chris Sutton has major ‘feeling’ with Man Utd vs Brentford scoreline prediction, he thinks one side will ‘edge’ it

BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has tipped one team to walk away with all three Premier League points from Manchester United’s forthcoming clash with Brentford.

Manchester United will welcome Brentford to Old Trafford on Saturday, with kick-off for the Premier League clash slated for 3pm UK time.

The Red Devils currently languish in 14th place in the Premier League table after managing only eight points from a possible 21 on offer so far.

United picked up a point in their last Premier League outing before the start of the October break, with the Red Devils playing out a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa.

The Red Devils have managed only two league wins from seven matches this season and Erik ten Hag is under major pressure ahead of the Brentford match on Saturday.

Sutton on Brentford ahead of Man Utd clash

Brentford are currently 11th in the Premier League table and Thomas Frank’s men are two points ahead of Manchester United after seven matches.

The Bees picked up all three Premier League points in their last match ahead of the October international break, with Brentford beating Wolves 5-3 at home.

Speaking in his BBC Sport column, Chris Sutton recalled how United were fortunate to beat Brentford 2-1 last season thanks to a late Scott McTominay brace.

However, the BBC Sport pundit admitted that Erik ten Hag “needs a win” on the weekend after the Red Devils’ poor start to the 2024-25 campaign.

“I was at this game last season and Brentford scored early, but Scott McTominay found the net twice in stoppage time to nick a win for Manchester United when they did not deserve anything from the game,” he wrote.

“This time? Well, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag needs a win, with his side 14th in the table and the joint-second lowest scorers with five goals from seven league games.

“Logic tells me that, while Brentford are yet to pick up an away point so far, they are the better team, and have been the better team all season.”

Sutton makes Man Utd vs Brentford prediction

Sutton revealed that he has a “feeling” that United will “edge” out a result against Brentford and is backing a 2-1 win for Ten Hag’s men at Old Trafford.

The 51-year-old former Celtic and Blackburn Rovers striker said that he was taking the “advice” of Statman Dave with his Premier League prediction.

“We also know the Bees still love an early goal, so they will probably take the lead again… but I just have a gut feeling that United will edge this one again, somehow,” Sutton continued.

“I can’t really tell you why, other than they have to, and also because Statman Dave said this would be 2-1 to Manchester United, so I am taking his advice. Hopefully he is better with his predictions than he is with his stats.”
