Sam Allardyce and Charlie Adam both saw eye to eye on one Manchester United transfer that Ineos should immediately rule out ahead of the summer window.
Ineos are expected to have a busy transfer window at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, including appointing the next permanent Manchester United manager.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s regime are likely to back United interim head coach Michael Carrick as the long-term successor to Ruben Amorim in the Old Trafford hot seat.
Ineos have a major task in continuing their overhaul of the United first-team squad as well, including bringing new top-tier midfielders to Old Trafford this summer.

Sam Allardyce and Charlie Adam’s reactions to Man Utd trying to sign Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski spoke volumes
Robert Lewandowski has been linked with Manchester United in the past and transfer speculation has reignited again over the 37-year-old Polish striker.
The Barcelona star is set to leave the Camp Nou at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, with Robert Lewandowski’s contract with the club expiring in June.
United have been urged to roll the dice with Lewandowski and bring the Poland captain to Old Trafford on a free transfer ahead of the 2026-27 season.
It was suggested on No Tippy Tappy Football that United should look to sign Lewandowski this summer and Sam Allardyce’s immediate reaction spoke volumes.
“Right, too old,” Allardyce said on his podcast.
Charlie Adam agreed with former England manager Allardyce that the age of ex-Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski is off-putting for a potential Man Utd move.
“Lewandowski, for me, I think, is at the age now,” he explained.
“I think it’s not for him. But I think they need to do that to make a difference.”

Rio Ferdinand thinks Man Utd could benefit from Barcelona and Poland star Robert Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski has ended his Barcelona season on a high note after the La Liga club comfortably retained the Spanish league title ahead of rivals Real Madrid.
The former Borussia Dortmund striker will turn 38 years old in August, but his age is not enough to put Rio Ferdinand off wanting Lewandowski at Old Trafford next season.
Posting on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, United legend Rio Ferdinand suggested that Lewandowski could benefit someone like Red Devils striker Benjamin Sesko.
Ferdinand tweeted last week: “What a guy, what a player!! Experienced option next season in UCL [and] help with [the] development of Sesko?”
Lewandowski has been at Barcelona since 2022 after his Bayern Munich exit and the Poland international has netted 119 times in 192 appearances for the La Liga side.
