Casemiro and Matheus Cunha feature as Brazil collapse in 3-2 Japan loss

Both Casemiro and Matheus Cunha have featured for Brazil this week in a 3-2 loss to Japan.

After Brazil beat South Korea 5-0 last week, it would have been hoped that the tour of Eastern Asia would end like it started.

It looked like it was heading this way, as Brazil stormed to a 2-0 half-time lead through Paulo Henrique and Gabriel Martinelli.

Sitting comfortably, Brazil took their eyes off the ball as Japan then came back to score three goals in 19 minutes through Takumi Minamino, Keito Nakamura, and Ayase Ueda to claim a 3-2 lead.

From a United point of view, Casemiro played the entire game, arguably being Brazil’s main man, while Matheus Cunha came off the bench but was unable to affect proceedings.

Casemiro is impressive in defeat

It is well known that Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of Casemiro, and he wore the captain’s armband against Japan.

Despite the crumbling around him, Casemiro impressed defensively, winning eight duels, making six recoveries, and four tackles.

Along with this, Casemiro completed 89 per cent of his passes to round out an altogether very convincing performance.

Bruno Guimaraes lauded Casemiro this week, and he proved this praise right despite the loss.
