While Manchester United are keen to get another signing or two through the door, the final week of the transfer window is likely to see plenty of outgoings.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka completed his move to West Ham last week.

And in the space of just a few days, Manchester United are likely to tie up deals for youngsters Radek Vitek, Facundo Pellistri, Maxi Oyedele and Will Fish.

Goalkeeper Vitek has moved to Austria on loan with FC Blau-Weiss Linz. Pellistri secured a £5 million switch to Panathinaikos, while Oyedele has confirmed by Polish giants Legia Warsaw on Thursday.

As for Fish, his proposed switch to Cardiff City is not yet complete but things are progressing quickly.

According to Wales Online, the former Hibernian loanee has undergone medical tests ahead of a potential £2 million move.

Manchester United set to sell Will Fish to Cardiff City

Cardiff boss Erol Bulut would not confirm or deny those reports.

But he does admit that Fish is a target for a club who need a centre-half to replace Luton Town newbie Mark McGuinness.

“Fish is a good player,” Bulut tells Wales Online. “A centre-back, young at 21 years old. I don’t know where we are (in terms of getting the deal done), but we are focusing on him.

“He played the last two years at Hibernian. A good young player, exactly what McGuinness was before; came young and went to Luton Town.

“If he can come – I don’t know where (the deal) is – he will also add quality to the team.”

A homegrown talent who has spent over a decade in the academy, Manchester-born Will Fish has less than 12 months remaining on his contract.

He has made only one first-team appearance for the Red Devils, with the arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro only enhancing Erik ten Hag’s defensive ranks.

Capped by England at Under 19 level, Fish moves to South Wales after two impressive campaigns north of the border with Hibernian in Edinburgh.

Former Hibs boss Nick Montgomery admitted that he was keen to secure Fish on a permanent basis, only to lose his job at Easter Road two months later.

“For Will, I don’t think he really needs a pitch from us. He really enjoys playing for Hibs. He really loves the club, and I think he enjoys the way we play,” Montgomery told the Edinburgh News of Fish, who made over 70 appearances for the club.

Heading to the Championship after Hibernian spell

Montgomery predicted back in April that Hibs would likely face competition for Fish’s services. The former Leeds and Sheffield United midfielder will not be surprised to see clubs south of the border make their move, with Cardiff now expected to get a deal done imminently.

“Ultimately, it’s going to be down to what options he has,” Montgomery said at the time. And there are probably going to be other clubs looking at his form this season, his games here.

“We are a big club. So, for Will, it’s going to be what is going to be the best option for him. We’re definitely going to be one of those options.

“But I’m sure there will be many others. And, whatever happens, we’ll support Will in what that looks like.”

Fish is likely to miss the first few weeks of his Cardiff career. He suffered a knee injury in pre-season.
