Burnley midfielder says there’s a big change he expects from Man United under Darren Fletcher tonight

Manchester United travel to face Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday. The Clarets are expecting Darren Fletcher to make key changes to the team after taking charge of Manchester United on a caretaker basis for the fixture.

It has been a week of change at Manchester United and there is more to follow over the coming months.

United sacked Ruben Amorim on Monday, less than 24 hours after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Leeds at Elland Road. It wasn’t pretty, but Amorim challenged Ineos in his post-match press conference, which ultimately led to his dismissal.

Will either Mason Mount OR Bruno Fernandes start for Man Utd in the Premier League clash at Turf Moor? 🤔

After parting ways with Amorim just 14 months after taking him from Sporting CP, United have turned to Darren Fletcher to take over the team to face Burnley.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a strong contender to become interim head coach for the remainder of the season, but all eyes will be on what changes Fletcher will make to the team.

Florentino Luis expects ‘new energy’ from Darren Fletcher’s Man Utd

Burnley’s return to the Premier League has been a tricky experience thus far.

The Clarets are 19th in the Premier League with 12 points from 20 matches. Scott Parker’s side is nine points adrift of safety, and they are among the favourites to go back down to the Championship this season.

United’s 1-1 draw with Wolves shows that Fletcher has a task on his hands to ensure the Red Devils don’t underestimate their opponents. They need to come away from Turf Moor with three points after dropping points over the festive period.

Burnley loanee Florentino Luis, who will return to Benfica at the end of the season, has been previewing the game. The 26-year-old shared how the Clarets are feeling about taking on United under Fletcher just days after Amorim’s sacking.

“Yeah, more than tactics, more than things they can do,” Luis said when asked what he expects from United on Wednesday night.

“I think they will try to bring a new energy because they changed the coach. So they want to prove that they are good.

“And on our side want to prove in the same way that the thing that we did in the past week is not our style, and we want to bring our energy with everything and win the game.”

Man Utd record against Burnley

United have lost just twice in 37 games against Burnley since 1969.

In the Premier League era, United have fewer defeats against Burnley than any other current top-flight team.

It remains to be seen if Fletcher can build on that in his first and possibly last game as interim manager.
