Bruno Fernandes shares what he and Telles said to Fred at full-time

Bruno Fernandes was seen joking with Fred as he came off the pitch after Manchester United’s win over Crystal Palace.

Along with Alex Telles, they congratulated Fred on his winning goal, while taking a playful jab at the rarity of his strikes too.

Fernandes used social media to explain that he and Telles both joked that they thought Fred meant to cross the ball.

Instead the midfielder curled the ball into the top corner to break the deadlock of a tight game.

Fred’s goal gave United a 1-0 victory and was reward for a dominant all round performance, lacking a cutting edge until that point.

The goal came from one of two shots the Brazilian had at goal. His shooting was better than Fernandes’ – who hit the target with one of three efforts and did not score.

Telles hit the crossbar with one of his two strikes but could not quite make the breakthrough.

It is good to see the players smiling again after a tough stretch, and the team spirit appears good in the United camp.

Fred provided Fernandes with an assist in the previous game against Arsenal.

The win took United up to sixth place in the Premier League table, although still short of the Champions League places.

West Ham’s surprise win over Chelsea on Saturday means the Hammers have a three points gap over United in fourth spot.
