Bruno Fernandes sends goodbye message to Paul Pogba

Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba forged a real friendship on the pitch after first linking up for Manchester United in 2020.

For a stretch it looked like they could form an unstoppable tandem in Manchester United’s midfield.

But without a truly world class defensive midfielder behind them, the pairing did not hit the heights they might have been capable of.

Like much of Pogba’s career at United, we can only wonder what might have been.

There were glimpses of magic between the pair, who dubbed themselves ‘Brogba‘ on social media. Even at the start of this season against Leeds we saw Pogba provide four assists and Fernandes bag a hat-trick. This was as good as it got.

The news was confirmed that Pogba would leave, an open secret really, drawing a line under his time at the club with his contract set to expire at the end of the month.

Goodbye message to Paul Pogba

Fernandes sent a message to Pogba expressing his pleasure at the last two and a half seasons playing alongside the Frenchman.

Fernandes also paid tribute to Jesse Lingard, a player he often had to compete for a spot for, winning comprehensively, and yet, held huge admiration for his teammate.

The Portugal star wishes Lingard the best of luck in his next step away from Manchester United.

Fernandes’ message followed a tribute from goalkeeper David de Gea to the pairing.

Amad, and Eric Bailly were also among the players to reach out and wish the duo well on their departures.
