Eric Bailly says he will miss Paul Pogba

With Paul Pogba’s exit from Manchester United now confirmed by the club’s official website, the first tribute from a teammate has been posted.

Perhaps unsurprising it comes via his close pal Eric Bailly.

Eric Bailly says he will miss Paul Pogba

Bailly sent a message to Pogba on Instagram, expressing his sadness at the midfielder’s departure.

Pogba leaves United as a free agent, and Bailly’s sadness is not exactly reflective of how the Manchester United fanbase feel.

Bailly and Pogba signed for United in the same summer back in 2016 under Jose Mourinho, with high hopes of reviving the club. It hasn’t worked out.

While Bailly says he will miss Pogba, there is a strong chance he will leave United as well.

He could also have been departing on a free transfer this summer, if not for the ill advised move to sign him to a new contract a year ago.

Bailly is expected to push for a move, as he is fourth choice defender at present, and could fall down to fifth if another centre-back is signed, with Jurrien Timber linked with a move.

He just won’t have the same freedom Pogba does to choose his own destination. The Frenchman is expected to sign with former club Juventus,  Gazzetta Dello Sport report.

It’s unlikely they end up at the same club, and so Bailly’s message is heartfelt on a personal level, even if United fans won’t miss him in the same way.

Pogba’s exit represents the end of an era for United, and hopefully a transition to a more successful one.
