Casemiro has insisted that Bruno Fernandes is only one of the reasons behind the Manchester United and Brazil midfielder being so destructive in the air.

The 34-year-old Brazilian midfielder has been impactful in the final third in the tail end of his Manchester United playing spell under interim boss Michael Carrick.

Casemiro has netted five times and registered an assist in the last 14 Premier League matches under Michael Carrick since Ruben Amorim was sacked in January.

The former Real Madrid midfielder has struck up a superb partnership with Bruno Fernandes in the second half of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.

Casemiro explains why it is not only Bruno Fernandes’ influence that has made him excel with his Man Utd heading

Bruno Fernandes has seen his influence massively increase in Michael Carrick’s Manchester United tactical set-up after being restored to the No 10 role.

The 31-year-old Man Utd captain has been chalking up assists on a consistent basis in the second half of the season, with Casemiro a key target from dead-ball situations.

Fernandes has managed an impressive 12 Premier League assists in the 14 Premier League matches that Carrick has led since the United legend’s return to the club.

Speaking to ESPN Brasil, Casemiro insisted that his teammates have played a key role in ‘unlocking’ his heading as much as Fernandes has done with his passing.

“It’s everyone’s credit [for the headers],” he said.

“From my teammates’ blocking, Bruno [Fernandes] crossing well, always having a great shot on the ball, those who help open up space.

“I always say that in football we only see the icing on the cake, who scores, the goalkeeper who makes the save, but in attack, the game starts to be built with the goalkeeper.”

Casemiro praises his Man Utd teammates amid his run of form with headers in the 2025-26 season

Casemiro has found the back of the net nine times overall and has two assists to his name in 34 matches across all competitions for Man Utd in the 2025-26 season.

The Brazil international, who will leave Old Trafford as a free agent in the summer, refused to play down the “team effort” in the build-up to him scoring a header.

“In defence, the defence starts to be defended with the No 9 up front. It’s a team effort,” Casemiro continued.

“Although I’m the one scoring the goals, here it’s all credit to the team.”

Casemiro has three Premier League matches remaining in his Man Utd playing spell ahead of his contract with the Red Devils expiring at the end of June.
