Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is aiming to win at Anfield for the first time on Sunday afternoon.
Over the summer, Bruno Fernandes showed true loyalty to Manchester United by rejecting a £100 million move to Saudi Arabia.
Now, he leads the latest rebuild under Ruben Amorim as the captain of the Red Devils. He has already earned a favourable spot in the club’s history books, but a win at Anfield would add to his legacy.
Bruno Fernandes will have dark memories of the dire 7-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in 2023, but last season, he starred in a 2-2 draw which could have seen United take all three points but for a late Harry Maguire miss.
This time around, Fernandes is hoping to emulate a good friend and former teammate.

Bruno Fernandes wants to replicate Anfield heroics
During their time together at Old Trafford, Fernandes grew close to Juan Mata, and they shared a special connection both on and off the pitch.
Mata scored twice against Liverpool back in 2015 in a 2-1 win when the Spaniard turned Anfield into ‘Juanfield’.
Speaking to MUTV, Fernandes explained that he wants to emulate United “hero” Mata in Sunday’s clash.
“Coming into training, I was speaking with Juan because he texted me, asking for a video for a friend. I said what I want from this weekend is to do what a real no.8 of this club has done at Anfield [laughs] and we were just talking about this.
“We know that this game, whoever scores in this kind of game, it has a huge impact on our fans and gets a huge love from them because this is a game that really matters for the fans.
“We will be very eager to win the game, to score goals and to get many, many years of that game. Hopefully, we can score more than one and get people very excited about our players.”
Bruno Fernandes’ record vs Liverpool
Sunday will be the 100th meeting at Anfield between United and Liverpool, meaning there will be even more at stake in what is already a blockbuster clash.
Since joining United, Fernandes has faced Liverpool 11 times across all competitions, but his record against the Reds is not something he will like to be reminded of.
Fernandes has only won three of his 11 meetings, with two of those coming in the FA Cup. The Portuguese playmaker is also yet to win a game at Anfield.

In those matches, Fernandes has scored three goals against Liverpool, all of which have come at Old Trafford.
He picked up his first assist against Liverpool at Anfield last season when he set up Lisandro Martinez for the opener.
